  • 1 large loaf French bread (about 8 cups)
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 ½ cups half and half
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen with flour)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (cubed)

Instructions

  1. Butter a 9 x 13 casserole dish.
  2. Cut French bread into 2-inch cubes and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  4. Layer half the bread cubes in the dish, followed by half the cream cheese and blueberries.
  5. Repeat layering with remaining bread, cream cheese, and blueberries.
  6. Pour egg mixture over layers; press down gently to soak all bread.
  7. Cover and refrigerate overnight or for at least 2 hours.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncovered for an additional 20-30 minutes until firm and slightly browned.
