  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for the glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for the glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients alternating with sour cream until just combined. Then add whole milk until smooth.
  5. Create the cinnamon swirl by mixing brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter into a paste.
  6. Fill each cupcake liner with batter followed by a spoonful of the cinnamon mixture; use a toothpick to swirl.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool before glazing with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
