  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs one by one and mix in vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with buttermilk until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle with half of the cinnamon mixture, then layer on remaining batter and sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon mixture.
  7. Swirl gently with a knife and bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow cooling for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
