Instructions
- Heat the water in a saucepan until warm but not simmering. Remove from heat.
- Thinly slice the red onions into rings or half-moons using a knife or mandoline.
- In the warm water, whisk together sea salt, sugar, white vinegar, and red pepper flakes until dissolved.
- Place the sliced onions in a mason jar and pour the pickling liquid over them. Press down gently with a spoon.
- Seal the jar tightly and refrigerate. For best flavor, let them marinate overnight.
