  • 3 cups chopped apples
  • 2 cups unsalted butter (softened) for frosting
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract for frosting
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce for frosting
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon for frosting
  • 3 cups powdered sugar for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter, vegetable oil, sugar, and applesauce until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture alternately with milk until just combined. Fold in chopped apples.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the frosting, beat together softened butter and vanilla; gradually add powdered sugar followed by caramel sauce and cinnamon until smooth.
  7. Once cooled, frost the cake and drizzle with extra caramel before serving.
